Important information on colocating servers with iDAQ
Posted by Michael Upton on 06 December 2011 10:44 AM

Prior to colocating your server in iDAQ's datacentre please take note of the following prior to shipping the server.

  • Ensure the server has appropriate rails for your server which were supplied by the manufacturer along with the server. Or they are the correct replacement rails from the server hardware manufacturer.
  • Upon recipet of you server we test the power usage of the server on system boot up. The base colocation fee allows for 0.3 amps of power usage. Any power usage over 0.3 amps after taking a 90% reading on the server when booting is subject to additional monthly colocation fee. We will discuss this in a support ticket concersation and over the phone with you at the time.
  • Please ensure the system is correctly configured so that if the system has to be remotely power cycled in the event the system is not responding correctly that it powers back on once power is restoted. In the servers BIOS settings there should be a setting which will ask the question along the lines of "power on after power fail?" Set this to true.

If you have any further questions regarding any potential colocation please place a support ticket request.
